The
print Uncharted depicts the relationship between Christopher
Gist and the highly respected Delaware chief Nemacolin, who in 1752
was hired by Gist and Thomas Cresap to aid them in blazing a trail
from Wills Creek (now Cumberland, MD) to Nemacolin's village on
the Monongahela near present day Brownsville, PA. This same trail
was later used and improved by George Washington in 1754, whose
campaign ended in his defeat at Fort Necessity, and General Braddock
in 1755, whose campaign also ended in defeat.
